Good Afternoon and Welcome to another edition of current reads!
This week I am reading one book. This book is a victim of the dreaded book buys that sit on your shelf and never get read. I bought this novel two years ago with all intention of reading it but I never got around to it. I will be finishing up CRA then immediately jumping on this novel so I can give the pages some love.
By Eleanor Catton
Historical Fiction Novel
In New Zealand, 1866, during the New Zealand gold rush, a group of men who traveled to this country in search of gold is tasked with an odd set of occurrences. A man of wealth has vanished, a prostitute made an attempt on her life, and a drunk who isn’t lucky suddenly woke up rich. What has caused these events? Or who?
I cannot wait to dig into this story, I fell in love with the cover at first sight and the story is certainly intriguing. I will do better at branching out further with different genres. I do read different genres, though as you’ve seen I get stuck on series filled with magic. You could say I’m drawn to those stories. This novel is stand-alone so there are no additional novels to this book.
Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday! Until next time keep your nose in a book, and a mug on hand!
